"Create Your Own Landscape or Floral Art Quilts" | |
May 17th-20th 2010 Optional set up May 16th 4:30-6:30pm
In
this supportive and creative atmosphere you will create an original
fabric composition that is an artistic interpretation of a favorite
vacation or garden photograph. With the luxury of digital photography
you may have immediate documentation of a pleasing composition. A
landscape or still life transfers easily from these photographs to a
quilt.
Using one of your own personal photographs for
inspiration we will make a quilt top approx. size (40” x 40”) using my
collaged and fused method. This method requires no patterns and any
style, size, and subject matter will work. In this fun four day
workshop we will talk about composition, color and color combinations,
and all the elements that make a visually strong quilt. We will also
experiment with water –based paints and pencils to see how they can be
used in quilts.
Machine quilting is another layer that adds to
the quilt and we will look at each top and discuss the quilting
possibilities. Some students may be ready to begin quilting in class.
(I will encourage it) A sewing machine capable of free motion quilting
will be needed.
