Optional set up May 16th 2:30-4:30pm

Off the Wall and Onto the Page
This is one of my favorite workshops. Every participant ends up with a unique and very personal result. For extended workshops, "Off the Wall" combines welll with "Pushing the Surface Sampler" and "the Color of Light'.

Combine mixed media and multiple ideas; working in a folding book format. Two sided images, free standing forms and more are possible in this workshop

Pushing the Surface: a Sampler of Techniques
Explore a variety of approaches to create and change surface color and texture. Color, marks, layers, materials and techniques.

Participant Supplies:

-Anything at all that appeals to you: odds and ends: e.g. photos (on fabric or paper), fabric, re-cycled quilt pieces, found objects, collage bits and pieces – no limit except your imagination and common sense.

-Include textures, papers, special fabrics found objects,  paints, scrap-booking supplies – if it appeals, it is welcome.
-At least 1/3 yard of PFD fabric or other good cotton (white)
-Basic sewing supplies, including embroidery threads are a good idea.
-At least 1/3 yard of one of the following: Peltex, Timtex or Fast 2 Fuse. These are heavy duty stabilizers, found in general sewing departments.
-IF you will be sewing, your machine must be in good working order, you will need 90/14 needles, construction thread and a variety of feet.

Optional: any UFO you would like to cut up

Press cloth: teflon or parchment paper to protect the iron and your materials

Kit fee: $20.00 includes materials you will be working with to create your own sampler of surface techniques to use in your “folding books”

Includes: workshop supplies and MistyFuse, Filter cloth (great for stamping on), raw tea bag paper and much more.  The kit fee also covers use of materials Laura will bring for use in the workshop:  e.g. acrylic mediums, paints, stamps, florist wire, ephemera, foils, raw fibers, sheers, and so forth.

If this listing gives you ideas, you are welcome to bring similar stuff for your own use or to share.

Instructor will have additional supplies available for purchase.
