Work
in the exciting medium of soft pastel with this award winning and
nationally known artist. This in-depth workshop includes various ways
to approach painting the landscape in pastel and will include
demonstrations by the instructor.
A
few of the subjects that will be addressed during this workshop are
composition, value recognition and the importance of value studies,
tips on how to handle the challenges of plein air painting, how to show
depth in your paintings and many more.

Besides ongoing “individual” critiques and help as you work, a critique
of the class work will be held at the end of each day.
A
materials list will be provided and all levels of experience are
welcome. Although the demos will be done with pastels, students may
work in any media.
Jim
is a long time signature member of the Pastel Society of America and a
Master Member of the Great Lakes Plein Air Painters. He has
taught workshops throughout the United States, Canada, France and Italy
and is a frequent juror for art competitions. He has been
featured numerous times in articles on his art and art in general and
has written many articles for national and international art magazines.
